About
I have spent the majority of my life in a theatre, or at a drawing board, or behind a camera, or in a darkroom, or at a computer—making art. I also teach and have taught both theatre and photography. The problem I have encountered in teaching is that there must be so much time devoted to craft and technique and individual coaching, there is little time left for philosophy, for the general problems of art. That is what this blog is about. Here I am taking the opportunity to talk about those things that would be footnotes in most classes or discussions. Here I get to be me and hold forth about those things in art that I wonder about when it’s late at night and I’m by myself with few to talk to. You get to be my sounding board. I may not always be right, but I will give you what I think, and you can give back your opinions and thoughts, and maybe between us, we can get a little further along in trying to find out what art is about, what art means, what art is…
